ICAIC Original or Reprint?
below are guidelines to buying ICAIC Serigraph posters

Original / Vintage ICAIC posters are generally those created before 1990, for film promotion. Original examples somehow escaped being posted onto the 'Umbrellas' of Havana's streets. These can be recognized by the yellowed paper, mold spots, transfer of pattern shadow from other posters which occurs in storage. It is also common and accepted that these posters will have some small tears along the edges. The paper is also often very fragile and brittle.

Contemporary Originals
ICAIC still produce posters for the promotion of new films, exhibitions and festivals. These I classify as Contemporary Originals. Prints from 1990 to the present day are 'Contemporary Originals'. Where Edition information is available it will be provided to the best of my ability.

Reprinted / Reproduction ICAIC posters are created after 1991.

These are created in the exact manner as the originals.* The major difference being the motive for production. Reproduction posters are created for general sale, display in restaurants, exhibitions and film promotion purposes.

These posters are generally in VG - Mint condition. Some creasing of the edges from transportation is evident.

Epicentregallery.com hand selects every poster to guarentee our customers the very best prints from each edition. The silk-screen process in Havana is very basic and variations in prints occur. These variations should not be considered as faults.

As these posters are totally hand made there are often imperfections in the ink. These imperfections can include bubbles, streaks, smudges from the removal of foreign bodies such as flies, and evidence of ink spillage.

*Serigraph process: a screen is hand cut for each colour. Each colour is applied separately. Each colour takes 24hrs to dry before the next can be applied.

1 colour = 1 day in production, 8 colours = 8 days in production etc.
