Alfredo González Rostgaard. (1943).
Guantánamo, Cuba. Painter, designer, sculptor. Graduate of the Provincial School of Plastic Arts of Santiago of Cuba. Worked as a designer at OSPAAAL (Organisation of Solidarity with the Peoples of Asia, Africa and Latin America) and was artistic director of the magazine Tricontinental. He worked as a freelance designer for ICAIC between 1966 and 1970. He was designer of the critical magazine Pensamiento (Thought). He has designed posters for UNEAC, Casa de las Americas and other cultural and political institutions. Many of their posters are seminal for the design produced in Cuba since 1959. He has participated in numerous national and international events and has obtained important prizes as Special Prize of the International Film Poster Contest, Cannes International Film Festival, France, 1976. His work has been shown in collective and personal expositions in diverse countries. He was awarded the Culture Merit Order of the Republic of Poland (1980) and the Distinction by the National Culture offered by the Counsel of State of the Republic of Cuba. At present is professor of the ISDI (Upper Institute of Industrial Design), continues carrying out posters for diverse events and make sculptures with adult themes
