When
Fabian Muñoz designed these posters he was one of ICAIC's youngest
poster designers (ICAIC is the Cuban Film Institute). At only sixteen
years of age he designed Buscando A Chano Pozo for a documentary about
the Cuban musician. In '89 he designed the poster Che: Entre Leyendas.
As the son of one of Cuba's most famous designers, Eduardo Muñoz
Bachs, Fabian had been visiting his father's studio since early childhood.
He told me, that as the son of an artist he had grown up with a paintbrush
in his hand, therefore painting and drawing seemed like the most natural
thing in the world. The progression to poster design seemed like the
obvious next step. However, his career at ICAIC was short lived. Fabian
designed four posters for the ICAIC before moving on. Fabian has also
made cartoons for Cuba's government daily Granma and has taken commissions
from other agencies within Cuba.
