Eduardo Munoz BACHS:

Eduardo Muñoz Bachs. (1937-1999) Valencia, Spain.

Bachs, one of the most interesting, prolific and collectable Cuban poster designers had no formal design training.

In the 1950s he worked for the Siboney advertising agency which made animated commercials for television.

In 1960 he started work in the ICAIC as a designer in the Animations Department. Here he designed the first ICAIC poster for the film Histories of the Revolution. This rare poster is unusal as it was printed 'off set', before ICAIC decided to move solely to silk-screen production.

He has also illustrated children's books, designed posters for the Carnival of Havana and for foreign cultural institutions.

His works have been exhibited in Cuba and abroad with some works integrated into permanent collections. He has participated in numerous national and international events. Has has obtained several important prizes: Prize al merit in the International Contest of Film Posters in the International Film Festival, Cannes, France, 1973; First and Third prizes in the International contest of Movie Posters The Hollywood Reporter, California, United States. In the International Festival of the New Latin-American Movies, Havana, Cuba. His posters have obtained Choir prizes in 1981, 1985 and 1988.
